Re: Getting Libraries to Disappear
Indy's right, use the course manager or collator to see what libraries are actually needed. All of my custom libraries use borrowed objects and textures from other libraries. You do not need to uncloak those original libraries once your new custom library is created. Since winning the last contest a...

Re: Gleneagle Textures
Guggy, IIRC I did set the blends up to be progressively deeper. However, while playtesting, I don't recall if the idea actually worked for this course.

Re: Custom Library Question
The learning curve for PS wasn't too bad for me. I starting using it for photography, and found a zillion tutorials online. As far as creating libraries goes, the objects I use in my libraries are all "borrowed", except for some small items like tee markers. I have created some hole signs ...

Re: Custom Library Question
Yep, that's the one, GIMP. Never used it since I have always used PS, but I've heard only good things about it. Plus it's free!!

Re: Custom Library Question
Yes, you can make objects in MS Paint if you'd like. You just have to save them as 8-bit bitmaps to use them in the library creator. There is also a free program available for download on the internet that a number of people use(can't remember the name of it). It is very similar to photoshop they say.

Re: Design contest
Steve! I like all of your ideas so far! Sorry I haven't been around lately, I moved and haven't had a chance to set up my PC yet. For now I'm using my phone and Mac to check up on things here. I won't be able to start on a contest for another couple weeks :( Once I'm ready I can certainly find a plo...

Re: Prevailing wind and Hazards
Guggy, using my Gleneagle fairway texture will not cause any problems. Thank you for choosing that texture set! I'm glad it's getting some use!!

Re: Textures for Edges
Guggy, I did some checking... The "fairway cut" is for fairway -> first cut, "rough cut" is for first cut -> rough. However, I didn't like the way they looked so I didn't use them. When I create a library, I usually end up with a a few textures I don't use. I leave them there in ...

Re: Textures for Edges
Indy is correct, my blends are always created so each one is thicker than another. However, the course itself determines whether the rough gets thicker or thinner moving away from the fairway. My gleneagle blends go from light rough to thick rough, to blend from fairway to weeds. My Glen Haven blend...

Re: Design contest
That's why I initially thought partners would be a good idea. It would give some of the newer designers a chance to learn some of the secrets of the more established designers. But I like Duncans idea of doing one hole at a time, or maybe 2 holes.
