British Isles Golf Course
Hole 7 – Lahinch
Another beautiful links course, it was one of Old Tom Morris's designs, although apart from create the green sites he found he had little else to do to the natural terrain. The 7th is a breathtaking hole. You drive to the crest of the fairway, although many will take an iron, and then are faced with a second shot that plunges downhill to the green. The green itself slopes left and right to bunkers and is no pushover. I've added some fairway bunkers to make the tee shot more interesting and challenging. At 400 yards this is a fine hole and a test of nerve – how close to the end of the fairway dare I put the drive, will I avoid the greenside bunkers from this height with the wind blowing. |
