Palm Harbor a JN6 Design
Re: Palm Harbor a JN6 Design
To All JN6 players !
If you don't download and play this masterpiece when finished you must be nuts. Steve I hope you thoroughly test play this beast before release. It would be a shame if there was an unfair pin placement or some other issue that downgrades this beauty.

Thanks Steve. As for the putting all the greens are undulating most very similar and the majority of the pin placements are in the lower levels of the greens but a few will be placed on break areas. The difficulty will mostly be for long putts but I've found the long putts to be enjoyable with the rollercoaster effect very similar to the PGA greens. I've been guilty of making very hard putts with some of my earlier course's so I've threaded back quite a bit. Designers always hang on the fine line of too easy or too difficult so I've been working towards too enjoyable. LOL Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated!SteveHorn wrote: ↑June 24th, 2022, 7:34 am To All JN6 players !

Sundance!
Nothing wrong with tough putts with large breaks. What I consider unfair is mostly having a putt anywhere on a green and if you miss there's no way of getting it to stop inside 15 feet from the pin. This happens when pins are placed before reaching the crest of a large slope and the ball from any angle on a missed putt will roll down the slope 16 to 30 feet away from the pin no matter what you do.

Steve that sounds like Augusta on a Sunday. Never understood how they consider that a good pin placement when a ball can roll 20 yards back onto the fairway but you see it every year.

Another great looking hole Steve and what a terrific course overhead. You should write an overhead tutorial, so we mere mortals can improve our overheads.
Cheers

Thanks Brad. I never actually wrote a tutorial but did write several posts at the Den. I learned the overhead following a tutorial that Brian had wrote years ago and then have just added my own touch with Photo Shop and Irfan View 64. It's really just a matter of experimenting like I did with Palm Harbor. I simply indexed 256 colors in the palette in lieu of 240 to get the transparency. Perhaps I'll sit down and write some tutorials in the future but I must admit that the text screens are usually the only part of designing that I don't enjoy.BradTheDad wrote: ↑June 26th, 2022, 6:10 pm Another great looking hole Steve and what a terrific course overhead. This completes the course previews and when the testing is finished I will make Palm Harbor available. Thank you all for the nice comments and I hope this course lives up to the hype. I have certainly enjoyed the design process! Thank You!!
Special Thanks to Brian and Viper for giving us a new location to enjoy this special golf program!! And to Galen and Randy for transferring all of the designers work from the Golden Bears Den.
