Old Timers Competition 2024
Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
I tested out one of Galen's rounds with the previously posted (above) round of mine and had a match. The screen shot of the splash screen directly up above matches the one I played most recently but does not match the splash screen of the original post oddly enough.
Here is round 4 to get caught up on this tournament I hope!

Round 3 at Apache Stand. Rather benign greens.

Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Hi Guys,
pay attention, as this may get a bit long-winded.
Firstly, as I have been unable to download the Hibiknomori course from the screenie that Galen put up (it says it is an unsafe site
) so I can't play Tarheel's first round at that course. So, Brad, could I please ask you to take screen shots of your front nine and back nine score cards for this round, and I will use them to populate the scoring spreadsheet.
Secondly, I have watched all the rounds submitted so far (except the one mentioned above and Galen's first round at Apache Stand) and there has been some terrific golf played. Yet again, our handicap system has been justified, with some very close Handicap and Stableford results. Congratulations to Tarheel for his brilliant Ace on the 17th in his first round at Bush Hollow.
Thirdly, I am very hopeful that we will soon see a return of Randy to the OTC. >
As our 2024 Champion Handicap Golfer of the Year, Randy will provide some serious competition to all of us. In addition, as we will have six players, I have already started giving some thought to how we could have some sort of Matchplay competition, without having to play any more rounds. Due to Randy's impending return, I will keep all tournaments open until I have his scores.
Finally, I haven't heard from Juan for some time now, I hope all is well with him and he is just on holidays, and will start submitting rounds again shortly.
That's about it, for the moment.
Cheers

Try to download the hibikonimori course from this website, which are from my database (and originally downloaded from the course depot collection), and then load up my .round files for that course (the two more recent ones). These play perfectly alongside those that Galen posted, or should.

Sorry, my goof. The splash screen was for Hokkaido Country Club but the link was for Hibikinomori. Brad said he is unable to download the course from the link. I just tested it and it worked for me.tarheel wrote: ↑March 20th, 2025, 7:32 pm I tested out one of Galen's rounds with the previously posted (above) round of mine and had a match. Forgot to U/L my round before going out with my sons. I'm so inconsistent.

Hi Tarheel and others,
the plot thickens, but I have your Round 3. When I first downloaded your Rd 3 file it appeared by itself down the bottom of the recorded rounds list and I couldn't play it. Your Rd 4 file appeared in the correct place and played fine against the course I had downloaded from the Course Directory (ie, your files). For whatever reason, I can't download the course directly from Galen's link. No idea why.
This morning I got into the game and your Rd 3 file has miraculously appeared in the correct spot. I have played it and now have your scores.
What is really strange is that the mystery file still exists at the bottom of the recorded round list. I give up!

No further action required in this regard.
Here is my first round at Nanih Waiya. This course is not too difficult in light winds, but there are several risk/reward decisions you are asked to make.
Cheers

Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Hi Steve,
just watched your Rd 3 at Nanih Waiya and did some statistical analysis (as is my want) comparing you to the current crop of LIV golfers.
You hit 11 out of 16 fairways in regulation (69%). Only 4 LIV golfers have a better average.
You hit 12 out of 18 greens in regulation (67%). This is the same as Charl Schwartzel, but there are 44 of the 55 LIV players who have better averages.
You only took 23 putts. That's an average of 1.28 putts per hole. That's better than anybody on the LIV Tour.
So, if you're looking for consistency, it's approaching and around the greens that is hurting you the most.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Hi Randy,
as you are returning to the tour
, I have kept all 2025 tournaments open for you. For handicap purposes it would be good if you could play them in order, but no big deal if you don't want to. There is absolutely no hurry for you to catch up. I will post results when you get them done. Robyn and I are going away for a week soon, so there will be a window there where people can catch up on where Steve, Galen and I have gotten to.
Here are the details of the courses we have played so far and the page of the forum where you can find the conditions for each tournament:
McCall Cumhann and Riverdale (Page 42)
Arashiyama and Hibiknomori (Page 46)
Busch Hollow and Silver Lake (Page 50)
Breezy Ridge and Apache Stand (Page 55)
Worthington Chapel V2 and Nanih Waiya (Page 59)
You probably have all these courses, but if you don't, I suggest you go directly to the Courses Directory to download them, rather than using the links posted, just to be sure you have the correct course.
Looking forward to watching your rounds.
Cheers
